RHT Contracting was formed in mid-2018 with a vision to provide specialist mine services to respectable blue-chip mining companies. The focus for RHT is to provide unparalleled services for clients in tailings storage facility construction and maintenance, crushing and screening, earthworks and earthmoving services, quad road trains, and heavy haulage.
The management Team’s expertise, capability & history lie in these areas, being fully trained & conversant with metallurgy and processing facilities.
With backgrounds in mine Safety and mill management and an understanding of corporate obligations for a license to operate makes RHT the specialist contractor of choice.
Our knowledge and experience in tailings dam construction and management techniques and our emphasis on keeping up to date with the latest global operating, construction, and closure standards for tailings dams set us in good stead with many mining companies who want to mitigate their risk by using only RHT.
Not only do we frequent ACG (Australian Centre for Geomechanics) tailings seminars we have also presented papers for them and other reputable organizations. RHT’s reputation as the leader in tailings dam construction and management is acknowledged by being the services provider and maintainer for the largest central discharge dam in the southern hemisphere. Along with our experienced management and supervision team we also continuously construct kilometers of upstream, downstream, or centreline tailings storage facilities using state of the art intelligent GPS dozers and excavators.
Having backgrounds as treatment plant managers has also given us unparalleled experience in mobile crushing and screening of all ore types. RHT operates a fleet of modern mobile tracked crushers producing but not limited to mill feed, DSO, road base, blast stemming, and filter stone. We can meet any customer needs either utilizing our mobile crushing plants or fully running and maintaining customers comminution circuits.

Mike Heddon
Founding Director
Mike’s background stems from 35 years in the mining industry working for mining companies predominantly in the metallurgical and Safety fields of gold and nickel mines. Mike’s passion for mining and the realisation of the lack of available professional Safe contractors to perform quality crushing and screening and tailings storage construction saw Mike start up a successful mining contracting company in 1995. Mike exited the business in 2012 to travel. Mike returned 6 years later and realised the same opportunity to provide Safe professional services still existed and the opportunity to partner with Joe and Mark to start RHT was too exciting to ignore.
Mark Tyler
Managing Director
Mark started his career as a qualified mechanic before entering the gold mining industry. Mark held positions in the metallurgy disciplines of mining, holding positions from mill manager to project supervisor. Mark’s experience in crushing, screening and tailings storage facility construction from a client’s perspective saw Mark join Mike’s previous company in 2005 to further excel in these areas. Mark held the position of general manager in which was one of the states largest speciality contracting companies.
Mark joined RHT as managing director and is responsible for keeping our Team Safe while ensuring all of our valued customers are Safe and happy.
Joe Ricciardo
Director
Joe has successfully owned and operated a local Perth civil contractor company Ricciardo Earthmoving since 1985 which specialises in metropolitan earthworks and earthmoving.
This well established and recognised local WA earthmoving business has a reputation with Perth’s leading residential and commercial builders as a one stop shop including earthworks, construction, waste management and plant hire. Joe’s mining contracting experiences along the way gave Joe an appetite for joining and establishing a larger company hence the establishment of RHT.
